Kelson Facades delivered the full façade package for a new extension at Guildford County School, known as “The Loft” — a specialist ASD unit designed to support students with autism.

Constructed above the existing building, the project required careful coordination to integrate with the current structure while delivering a high-performance façade system suited to an educational environment.

The Brief

Develop the architect’s design intent and value engineer the specified finishes to improve buildability and cost efficiency without compromising performance or appearance.

The Challenge

The project was located at the centre of the school grounds with no direct vehicle access, requiring all materials to be transported manually. The extension was also constructed four storeys high, increasing complexity around access, safety and installation within a live school environment.

The Solution

Kelson designed, supplied and installed a complete SFS and rainscreen façade system, managing logistics, sequencing and installation in restricted conditions. A coordinated approach across design and site teams ensured efficient delivery and a consistent, high-quality finish.
